SiteGround has a loyal following among WordPress users, mostly thanks to its support team and a custom hosting platform with thoughtful extras on every plan. It is also one of the most expensive shared hosts once the introductory period ends, so it pays to understand exactly what you are buying.
SiteGround plans and prices
- StartUp: $2.99/mo intro, renewing at $17.99/mo. One website, 10 GB storage, roughly 10,000 visits a month.
- GrowBig: $4.99/mo intro, renewing at $29.99/mo. Unlimited websites, 50 GB storage, roughly 100,000 visits, staging and on-demand backups.
- GoGeek: $7.99/mo intro, renewing at $44.99/mo. 100 GB storage, 400,000+ visits, Git staging, white-label access and priority support.
Every plan includes daily backups with a 30-day history, a free CDN, free SSL, unlimited email accounts on your domain and free site transfer.
What we like
Daily backups kept for 30 days on even the cheapest plan is excellent protection, and the free CDN and unlimited email accounts add real value. GrowBig adds staging and faster PHP, which helps busy WordPress sites. SiteGround’s support is widely regarded as one of its biggest strengths.
What to watch for
Renewal prices are the highest of the shared hosts we track: StartUp renews at six times its intro price. StartUp also allows only one website, and storage is modest compared with InMotion or Hostinger’s higher tiers.
Who should choose SiteGround
SiteGround suits site owners who value hands-on support and built-in safety nets more than the lowest price, such as small businesses whose website brings in enquiries every day. If you choose it, GrowBig is the plan to buy, and budget for its renewal from the start.
How it compares
Against Hosting.com and InMotion, SiteGround costs far more at renewal while offering less storage, though its daily 30-day backups, free CDN and support reputation are hard to beat. Against Kinsta, SiteGround’s GrowBig is much cheaper but less hands-off, since you still handle more of the maintenance yourself. For a business that depends on fast answers when something breaks, SiteGround’s premium can be worth paying; for a hobby site it rarely is.
The verdict
Excellent features and support, priced like a premium product after year one. Worth it if support matters most to you.
