HostErova

How we review web hosting

The same checklist, the same sources and the same weighting for every host. Here is exactly what goes into a HostErova verdict, and what never does.

What counts, and by how much

We score six areas. Pricing transparency carries the most weight because it is where buyers lose the most money. The weights are published so you can disagree with them and re-rank the hosts yourself.

We do not award points for marketing claims we cannot check, such as unlimited everything or vague speed promises.

Where our numbers come from

Plan names, prices, renewal rates, refund windows and limits come from each provider’s own pricing pages, terms of service and knowledge base. When a host publishes a pricing change notice, we read it and update the review.

If a figure is not published, we write ‘not listed’ instead of estimating it. If a host’s own pages contradict each other, we note the conflict and use the less favourable figure until the host clarifies.

How often we re-check

Hosting prices move constantly with seasonal sales. We re-read every pricing page at least once a month, and we update the comparison table the same week a provider changes its plan line-up.

Source code displayed on computer monitors
Each review shows the month its figures were last checked. Spotted something out of date? Tell us on the contact page and we will look at it within a few working days.

Independence rules we keep

No paid placements

Hosts cannot pay to be reviewed, to rank higher or to have criticism removed.

Affiliate links are disclosed

Some outbound links earn a commission. It is disclosed on every page and never changes a verdict.

Corrections are public

When we get something wrong we fix it and note what changed, rather than quietly editing.
