Most people know Namecheap as a domain registrar. Its Stellar shared hosting plans are a natural add-on if your domains already live there, and Namecheap is unusually open about what those plans renew at. That alone makes it worth a look.
Namecheap Stellar plans and prices
New shared hosting plans start with a 30-day free trial, then bill at the following rates:
- Stellar: from $2.28/mo. Three websites, 20 GB SSD, 30 mailboxes and backups twice a week. Renews at $55.88 a year.
- Stellar Plus: from $2.98/mo. Unlimited websites, unmetered SSD storage, unlimited mailboxes and AutoBackup. Renews at $85.44 a year.
- Stellar Business: from $4.98/mo. Unlimited websites, 50 GB SSD and AutoBackup. Renews at $128.88 a year.
Each plan includes an eligible non-premium domain free for the first year. Namecheap raised these renewal prices for invoices issued from 19 May 2026 and published the new figures in its knowledge base, which we appreciate.
What we like
Keeping domains and hosting in one account simplifies DNS and billing. The free trial lets you test the control panel and speed before paying, and even the entry plan includes plenty of email accounts for a small team. Renewal prices are low compared with many competitors.
What to watch for
Backups on Stellar run twice a week and are not guaranteed, so we would add a backup plugin or step up to Stellar Plus for AutoBackup. The plans focus on essentials, so you will not find the staging tools or premium performance features that some rivals include on mid-tier plans.
Who should choose Namecheap
Namecheap hosting suits personal sites, small business pages and side projects, especially if your domains are already registered there. Stellar Plus is the sweet spot for most buyers: unlimited sites, automatic backups and a renewal that stays affordable.
How it compares
Against Hostinger, Namecheap starts a little lower and renews far lower, though Hostinger’s panel is more polished and its higher tiers include daily backups. Against DreamHost, which also includes daily backups and allows 25 sites, Namecheap’s advantage is having domains and hosting in one place. If you plan to keep the site for several years, Namecheap’s published renewal prices make long-term budgeting simple, and the free trial means there is little risk in trying it first.
The verdict
Namecheap will not win on features, but it wins on honesty and low running costs. For a simple website, that is often the better deal.
